How Small Coffee Shops Can Succeed Using Social Media Essay
Everyone has a local anesthetic coffee berry sponsor that they consider to be their favourite. That one place where they be intimate theyll be welcomed with open arms and the people groundwork the counter eff their name (or at least their face). The place that even if their coffee be almost double as much as Tim Hortons (Starbucks) that this is the place theyll ever so recommend to their friends. A few geezerhood ago, it was nearly impossible for a local coffee shop to compete with the deep pocket coffee shops. Today, even the smallest cafe with the a very little marketing cipher female genital organ compete. All they need is a story worth telltale(a) and of course, a coffee worth brewing. If they cast off those, the clients will keep approach back the main concern is usually getting them there in the first place. Here are some ways that societal media stern be mappingd to help local coffee shops compete with the vainglorious players. Two Tweets and One SugarAs I wr ite this perspective, cheep has become one of the biggest bombilationwords of the year. However, the buzz isnt unwarranted. Twitter is one of the largest amicable networking channels in North Ameri toilet consisting more than than 15Million accounts. And while its unperturbed in its infancy it caters businesses an unparalleled opportunity to communicate with consumers and current customers in real-time. So what does this mean for coffee shops? It means that they muckle communicate more effectively than ever with consumers. If that means setting up a bet that tracks their brand and sending a simple thank you or freeing as far as taking a pre-order, so be it.Twitter gives these brands a chance to create a personal confederacy with their consumers and make their brand worth talking nearly. By being agile in the twitter community an opportunity exists for coffee shops to offer their distance for events such as tweet ups. Hosting these live events at your venue not sca rce gaurantee that youll be selling your products, but also guarantees some buzz (tweets) about your brand. On top of that, some of these new customers were probably neer in your shop in their life however, because you got involved in twitter and hosted this event you were able to attract new customers to give your shop. What more can you ask for? Im glad you asked. How about 1 intercommunicate LatteWhile blogging can be an important part of a hearty media strategy, its not worth having if you dont have a strategy behind it. If your main goal is to develop an online community it index be in your best interest to blog about divergent beans or maybe do a Wine Library TV segment Coffee Style. However, if your strategy is focused around getting more butts in your cafes seats, it might be in your best interest to talk of offers on the blog. As great as a blog can be for an organization it can also be their downfall. A company that views their blog as being a great way to only talk about their brand and how great they are will neer find readers. Well maybe theyll have their spouse and employees but customers wont be interested. If you can provide your readers with something of value they will return. I often tell people looking to start a blog to try and offer the three Es of Social Media.Entertainment, bringing up or EngagementAn Extra Large FacebookFacebook has become the grand-daddy of them all when it comes to social networks. It has newly gone from being a questionable place to have your brand, to a necessity for many companies in the food industry. With its most recent changes to the facebook pages it has become obvious that brand experience on facebook is back. Brands are straightaway able to create facebook pages with more customization than ever and truly deepen their family relationship with their customers. The frazzle-dazzle applications arent the only way for a local coffee shop to set itself a part from other put ins. It can also use Faceb ook to promote other content that they have created. This means they can post links to their blog, videos, pictures and even coupons reaching an audience that may not be present on the other social networking channels. With that said, we cant leave behind the meat and potatoes that Facebook was built upon. The ability to get your message out to a number of people is one of the key reasons why businesses have make such success on facebook. Those tweetups we discussed earlier can easily be cross-promoted using a Facebook event. The opportunities available on facebook are great its up to you, to turn them into something remarkable.Whose your Manager Mayor? resolute is the new kid on the block in the social media world. It will be the most talked about social networking platform for the rest of this year and will definitely be playing a big part in several social media plans. James Hoffman explains on his blog why, You have people competitively tour you, talking about you. More than that there is a passably tender business model in there too, meaning that square could thoroughly be around in a few years. Coffee shops seemed pretty quick to embrace twitter, and it will be interesting to see if that experience has soured social media for them, or if theyll embrace foursquare too. Something tells me that theyll embrace foursquare like a seat-belt embraces impact.Mayorship TechCrunchOne of my favourite tactics that coffee shops can use in Foursquare is promoting the idea of becoming city manager. The basics behind this tactic is that you tell the consumers that if they become the mayor of your shop they get their beverages for free. comprehend that there is an incentive now for going to the shop more and more Youve ultimately created a competition that will keep the people swarming your shop. The totally idea of providing customers with rewards for loyalty has been going on for years. This race to be the mayor however, takes customer loyalty, flips it upsid e down and turns it into a competition.Lets not get our Mochas in a BunchWith all that said, you must always remember your companies middle strategy and goals. These channels discussed above may take a same route as hi5 or geocities in a few years time. For that reason, it is important to not put all your eggs into one basket. Facebook is already talking about their new function that will be the Foursquare Killer. (Keep your eyes open) Finally, remember that the value you provide your customer in the store will always out weight the value you can provide them with a social networking tool. While its important to do things to get your customers in the door its just as important to make sure theyll penury to come back.

Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs Essay
1)Explain the penury problem with the hourly-paid employees in this organization in scathe of the content models of motivation. What argon the other things that the human resources manager is referring to in oratory of things besides money, conditions, and fringe benefits that ar aimed to activate employees? The first surmise that is briefly presented is Mas woefuls hierarchy of require. After which, this is linked to the c any for of Tom, Rajina, and Harry. Maslows Hierarchy of necessitate Perhaps, the most famous theory of triumph and motivation was developed by Abraham Maslow (1954 in Loop, 1994).Maslow believed that employees would be cheery with their cables at whatsoever given point in condemnation if certain conveys were met. Maslow believed that in that location be five major types of needs and these needs argon graded that is, lower level needs must be satisfied before an employee leave alone be concerned with the next level of needs. Basic biologic needs. Maslow theory that an individual first seeks to receive sanctioned biological needs for fodder, air, water, and shelter. An individual who does non fork everywhere a frolic, is homeless, and is on the verge of starvation impart be satisfied with any job as commodious as it entrusts for these basic needs. When asked how well they enjoy their job, citizenry at this level might reply, I crowd outt remonstrate, it pays the bills. Safety needs. After the basic biological needs admit been met, a job that merely appropriates food and shelter provide no longer be carry throughing. Employees then compose concerned about impacting their safety needs. That is, they whitethorn utilization in an unsafe coal mine to earn money to ensure their familys survival, just once their family has food and shelter, they will stick around satisfied with their jobs yet if their work home plate is safe.Safety needs squander been explained to include psychological as well as phy sical safety. Psychological safety often referred to as job security stomach certainly affect job satisfaction. For example, creation sector employees often list job security as a main benefit to their jobs a benefit so strong that they will stay in lower paying public sector jobs kinda than take soaringer paying, yet less secure, jobs in the private sector. neighborly needs. Once these first two need levels take a crap been met, employees will remain satisfied with their jobs only when their societal needs have been met.Social needs involve working with others, developing friendships, and feeling needed. Organizations attempt to satisfy their employees well-disposed needs in a motley of dashs. Company cafeterias provide workers the place and opportunity to socialize and meet other employees, company picnics allow families to meet one other, and company sports programs such as bowling teams and softball games provide opportunities for employees to play together in a ne utral environment. Ego needs. When social needs have been satisfied, employees concentrate next on meeting their self needs. These atomic number 18 needs for recognition and success, and an organization ass help to satisfy them through praise, salary make ups, and publicity. Ego needs can be satisfied in many ways. For example, many organizations use furniture to help satisfy ego needs. The eminent uper the employees position, the better his office furniture. Self- unfeignedization needs. Even when employees have friends, have earned awards, and are do a relatively high salary, they may non be completely satisfied with their jobs because their self-actualization needs may have not been satisfied yet. These needs are the fifth and concluding level of Maslows needs hierarchy. Self-actualization may be go around defined by the US Armys recruiting slogan, be the best that you can be. An employee striving for self-actualization wants to r all(prenominal) her potential in every childbed. Thus, employees who have worked at heart the same machine for 20 years may be rise up disgruntled with their jobs. They have accomplished all that they can with that especial(a) machine and like a shot search for a new challenge. If none is available, they may become displease (Knoop, 1994).In the lineament study, it has been pointed out that Tom does not seem to be alone move by money alone, suggesting that he has probably at peace(p) beyond the basic biological needs. There should be military campaign on the part of his supervisor to look for esteem or self-actualization needs, perhaps. One excerption is for his job to be enriched. This is alike true in the case of Rajina who does have loyalty to the company, but is not too assertive. She may be asked to restrain in activities that will increase her self-esteem.Finally, Tom is easily incite by monetary rewards, and may be rewarded and propel by these. Still another(prenominal) theory is the two factor th eory of Herzberg. Two-factor Theory Still another needs theory, which reduces the number of needs to two, was developed by Herzberg. He believed that job-related factors can de divided into two categories, motivators and hygiene factors thus the name two-factor theory. Hygiene factors are those job-related elements that results from but do not involve the job itself. For example, pay and benefits are consequences of work but do not involve the work itself.Similarly, making new friends may result from going to work, but it is also not directly involved with the tasks and duties of the job. Motivators are job elements that do concern actual tasks and duties. Examples of motivators would be the level of job responsibility, the amount of job control, and the interest that the work holds for the employee. Herzberg believed that hygiene factors are necessary but not sufficient for job satisfaction and motivation. That is, if a hygiene factors is not present at an able level (e. g. the p ay is too low), the employee will be dissatisfied. But if all hygiene factors are represented adequately, the employees level of satisfaction will only be neutral. Only the presence of both motivators and hygiene factors can bring job satisfaction and motivation. Herzbergs theory is one of those theories that makes superstar but has not received strong support from research. In general, researchers have criticized the theory because of the methods used to develop the two factors as well as the fact that few research studies have replicated the findings obtained by Herzberg and his colleagues (Knoop, 1994). McClellands Needs TheoryThe final needs theory was developed by McClelland (1961 in Knoop, 1994) and suggests that differences between individuals stem from the relationship between a job and each employees level of job satisfaction or motivation. McClelland believed that employees differ in their needs for exercise, affiliation, and reason. Employees who have a strong need for achievement lust jobs that are challenging and over which they have some control, whereas employees who have tokenish achievement needs are much satisfied when jobs involve brusk challenge and have high probability of success. In contrast, employees who have a strong need for affiliation prefer working with and helping other the great unwashed. These types of employees are found more often in mint-oriented helper jobs than in management or administration (Smither & Lindgren, 1978). Finally, employees who have a strong need for power have a desire to influence others rather than simply be successful. Research has shown that employees who have a strong need for power and achievement make the best managers (Stahl, 1983) and that employees who are motivated most by their affiliation needs will probably make the worst managers. It is evident from both theories that Tom, Rajina and Harry may have need for hygiene factors to increase their productivity. This means that management must offer motivators to retain them or to motivate them to work more. 2)Building on the response to Question 1, explain the motivation of the hourly-paid employees in this company in terms of the process models of motivation. Based on the data provided by the confidential interviews, what would you guess are some of the expectancies, valences, and inequities of the hourly-paid employees of this company? How do these compare to those of Pat (the Director of Manufacturing and Operations)? Based on Vrooms expectancy theory, Tom, Rajina and Harry have varying valences, expectancies and instrumentality. For example, in the case of Tom, come in inspiration and motivation which are intangibles. However, he is not motivated because he does not receive this from the company. He also does not believe that exerting more effort at work would allow him to receive such inspiration. In the case of Rajina, she has a high need for esteem, which she does not experience because she does not know to ad vertise her efforts to colleagues.Recognition is what may be given to her to even for her efforts and loyalty. There is no direct link from her perspective, of exerting more effort at work, and receiving such recognition as reward. Finally, Tom puts great premium on monetary rewards and benefits. However, based on the perceptions of hourly paid employees in general, there is no significant difference between those who work hard and those who tote up little. A compensation and bonus scheme reflective of relative function must be established to motivate employees like him.Based on these information, how can management leverage on the motivation of employees to enable them to meet higher productivity? exclusive differences theory postulates that some variability in job satisfaction is due to an individuals personal disposal across situations to enjoy what she does. Thus, certain types of people will generally be satisfied and motivated regardless of the type of job they hold (Wea ver, 1978). The report also makes intuitive sense. We all know that people who constantly complain and whine about every job they have, and we also know people who are motivated and enthusiastic about every job or task.First, we should be aware of the fact that there are several factors that affect our hourly paid employees satisfaction. Apart from money and fringe benefits that motivate employees like Harry, personality is another factor to consider. Whether the consistency in job satisfaction is due to genetic or environmental factors, there appears to be a series of personality variables that are related to job satisfaction. That is, certain types of personalities are associated with the tendency to be satisfied or dissatisfied with ones job.Judge et al. (1998) have hypothesized that these personality variables are related and involve peoples outlook on livelihood (affectivity), view of their self-worth (self-esteem), ability to hold their environment (self-efficacy), and abil ity to control their environment (external vs. internal locus of control). battalion prone to be satisfied with their jobs have high self-esteem, high self-efficacy, high positive affectivity, and an internal locus of control. Research supporting this view has come from Judge et al. 1998), who found a significant correlation between a combining of these four variables and job satisfaction, and from Garske (1990), who found that employees with high self-esteem are more satisfied with their jobs than are employees low in self-esteem.Results consistent with the affectionateness evaluation theory were reported by Dubin and Champoux (1977), who found that some people are happier in their jobs than people without this focus. Moreover, the degree to which they are satisfied with their lives is also another determinant of their motivation on the job. Judge et al. 1998), Judge and Watanabe (1993), and Tait et al. (1989) have theorized not only that job satisfaction is consistent across tim e but that the finis to which a person is satisfied with all aspects of her life (e. g. marriage, friends, job, family, geographic location) is as well. Furthermore, people who are satisfied with their jobs tend to be satisfied with life. These researchers found support for their theory, as their data indicate that job satisfaction is significantly correlated with life satisfaction. Thus, people happy in life tend to be happy in their jobs and vice versa.Individual differences theories postulate that some employees are more predisposed to being motivated than others. Such things as genetics and affectivity are involved in the extent to which some people tend to perpetually be satisfied with their jobs and others always dissatisfied. However, rather than genetics and affectivity, self-esteem, need for achievement, and intrinsic motivation tendency are the individual differences most related to work motivation. To be able to care hourly employees intangible needs, there must be muc h effort on managements part to increase employees self-esteem.These may not be too applicable for Harry who seems to be more motivated by basic needs, i. e. money and fringe benefits. There are conglomerate ways of carrying this out, as follows Employees who can attend workshops or sensitivity groups in which they are given insights into their strengths. It is thought that these insights raise self-esteem by demo the employee that he has several strengths and is a good person. Management also ought to provide hourly paid employees with experience on success. With this approach, an employee is given a task so easy that he will almost certainly succeed. It is thought that this success increases self-esteem, which should increase performance, then farther increase self-esteem, then further increase performance, and so on. This method is based loosely on the rationale of self-fulfilling prophecy, which states that an individual will perform as well or as poorly as he expects to perfo rm. In other words, if he believes he is intelligent, he should do well on tests. If he believes he is dumb, he should do poorly. So if an employee believes he will always fail, the only way to break the vicious cycle is to ensure that he performs well on a task (Knoop, 1994).Particularly in the case of Tom, management has to hypothecate of ways to motivate him to achieve. Employees who have a strong need for achievement desire and are motivated by jobs that are challenging and over which they have some control, whereas employees who have minimal achievement needs are more satisfied when their work involves little challenge. Employees who have a high need for achievement ate not risk takers and tend to set remainders that are challenging enough to be interesting but low enough to be attainable.Employees with a high need for achievement need recognition and want their achievements to be noticed. To increase motivation, goal setting should be used. This is particularly applicable in Toms and Rajinas case who do not seem to perform well without adequate supervision. With goal setting, each employee is given a goal, which might be a particular quality level, a certain quantity of output, or a combination of the two. For goal setting to be most successful, the goals themselves should possess certain qualities. First, they should be concrete and specific.Setting more specific subgoals can also meliorate performance (Klawsky, 1990). Second, a properly set goal is high but reasonable (Locke & Latham, 1990). To increase the effectiveness of goal setting, feedback should be provided to the employee on his overture in reaching his goal (Locke & Latham, 1990). Feedback can include verbally copulation an employee how he is doing, placing a chart on a wall, or displaying a certain ruse of light when the employees work pace will result in goal attainment and a different color of light when the pace is too slow to reach the goal.Feedback increases performance best when it is positive and informational rather than negative and controlling. Another set of theories hypothesizes that workers are motivated when they are rewarded for their behavior. As a result, organizations offer incentives for a wide variety of employee behaviors, including working overtime or on weekends, making suggestions, referring applicants, staying with the company (length of service awards), coming to work (attendance bonuses), not getting into accidents, and performing at a high level (Henderson, 1997).

This training ensures that if a situation arises, the students will be interpreted care of appropriately and precautionary measures are met to ensure their boilersuit health and wellness, as well as the safety of others. For volunteers, the training is different, since they are on a voluntary basis and be causation the lead teacher will ever so be in the classroom, the volunteers dont need as extensive of training. Therefore, the primary training for a volunteer is that they are certified with CPRM through the Ameri lowlife Red Cross and verified that they are not a registered sex offender, and upon volunteering will provided a short introductory training course on childrens health and s afety.Generally, volunteers will be repeat volunteers, and Hereford, the training will ensure the volunteer is truly interested in the opportunity of working with children and promoting the word of God. Materials Albert is a boy within the childrens ministry who is confine to a rack tone down and there are only steps currently at the building, and therefore, there should be flap chair ramps at entrances to the building for Albert to venture. Along with these ramps there should also be an automatic door button for Albert to press in order for him to be able to open the door to the church and into the classrooms as well.Within the church it-self there should be ramps or even elevators for those who may not be able to use the stairs, much(prenominal) as Albert or other children and adults that may have difficulties walkwaying up and down stairs. Within the classrooms themselves, the walk areas should be wide enough so that Albert and others can maneuver their cycle per second chairs though, and it is important to ensure that the aisles and pathways are kept clear of toys and any other objects.Located in the corner of the room is a spot for children who may have difficulties with parallelism or other limited difficulties with soft patted mats where they have the opportunity to interact with teachers or oleanders one on one. The table at which everyone is seated should be able to accommodate the needs of Albertan wheelchair, or have a chair in which there is cap mightiness for Albert to transition to from his wheelchair if he feels comfortable with. The vacation spot itself should be handicap accessible, and have a hardly a(prenominal) areas in which a child with disabilities are able to play with others without feeling separated from their peers.By ensuring the Albertan boilersuit needs are met as a whole, the environment will be an overall decreed experience for everyone involved, including Albert and Other children that ay have disadvantages in a t ypical environment. Albert and Information on his Disability Albert is an 8 year old boy who has been attending the Brownsville Church of Christ childrens ministry for a little over 4 and a half years now with his family on a weekly basis. Albert is a very caring and sweet boy who always seems to have a smile on his face when somebody speaks to him.Albert is a special little boy, who has special needs that require some assistance on a day to day basis repayable to his diagnosing of cerebral paralyze. When Albert was 2 years old he was diagnosed with cerebral paralyse due to having a severe case of induce as an infant that was left untreated, and commenced severe hardship. His parents first noticed his breaks in rolling over, session up, and crawling all being significantly retard. Unfortunately, Albert was never able to walk and was provided a wheelchair to get around.Through severe physical therapy, Albert can take few steps on his own, however, because of his limited phy sical movement in his demoralise portion of his body, is confined to a wheel chair majority of his days. other medical complication brought on by cerebral paralyse is Albertan seizures, and can a good deal come out of nowhere. However, Albert has taken daily medications for years, multiple measure a day, and they are taken to control and/or cut back the seizures, and decrease the severity. The severity of Albertan Cerebral paralysis is classified as severe, as he has lost mobility and has severe seizures, as well as other internal damage that is due to the Cerebral paralysis. Although Albert is confined to a wheel chair, he makes every attempt to be involved in activities that he typical peers are involved in. When play time arises there are always children who the comparables of to sit at the table with Albert and do guzzles, color, or simply read a book with him.Alberta communication skills arent that of his typical peers, due to his developmental delays that are associate d with his diagnosis of Cerebral paralyse however, he makes great attempt to mixerize with his peers, and communicate with those around him with verbal and nonverbal forms of communication. Albert doesnt allow his disability stop him from having a life, and living a life like his typical peers he is very interested in being like others, and works hard every day of his life to meet his highest potential. question of Cerebral PalsyEtiology Cerebral paralyze was first discovered and brought about by an English orthopedic surgeon named William Little in 1861 (Italic, A. & Lurch, H. , 2010). Since the discovery of cerebral paralyse by Doctor Little, there have been many people who have been interested in studying this disease further to truly assure it. The International Journal of Nursing Studies states that cerebral paralyze is a non-progressive, neurological condition, resulting primarily from damage to or malformation of the developing fountainhead (McCullough, N. Parker,J Ke rr, C. & McDowell, B. , 2013). The disease does to progress over the years, and will present with Symptoms that do not decline over the years, and is a great deal diagnosed at an early age, typically to begin with the age of 3. The disease can add up for a variety of reasons, to include random mutations, maternal infections, prenatal complications, alcohol and drug use during motherliness, foetal stroke, and lack of oxygen, infant infections, and traumatic head/brain injury such as shaken baby syndrome (Mayo Clinic). There is no way to prevent Cerebral Palsy, however, there are precautions that can be taken to decrease the adventure of an infant developing Cerebral Palsy, o include dont drink alcohol, fastball cigarettes, or do drugs during pregnancy, report domestic violence or child abuse, and/or see a doctor if you see signs of medical complications during pregnancy or infancy. According to Mayo Clinic, one Of the leading healthcare facilities in the country, the signs to w atch for during infancy or preschool years.By taking precautions and monitoring your child at a young age, it would be more beneficial to have an early diagnosis, so that they can begin treatment to ensure a positive outcome. Prevalence In todays society, it is fairly common to meet an individual adult, child, or arena of a child with Cerebral Palsy. The prevalence has increase over the years, and now affect a great deal of children that are born today. It is common for one to know someone with or who has children with Cerebral Palsy, because of how common the disease is.According to The Gale Encyclopedia, it states that approximately 8,000 babies and infants are diagnosed with the condition each year (Poplin, S. , Caret, F. , Lour, L. , & Labeler, M. 2011). Cerebral paralysis can have many different symptoms in which parents need to kick for in order for their children to be diagnosed with this disorder. Although Cerebral palsy can be mild for most children there can be more sever e forms in which can lead to more effective complications.Characteristics Characteristics of Cerebral Palsy can present itself in a variety of ways, and some like most diseases, the characteristics of Cerebral palsy can often be more severe for one patient, than it can be with another. While there are some characteristics that are definite between each patient, the overall symptoms depend upon the severity of the disease present. Cerebral palsy can impact the body in many different ways, including it can cause delays or impairment of a persons health and wellness, physical ability, intellectual abilities, communication, vision, and hearing.Cerebral Palsy can affect the entire body in a variety of ways, and the symptoms may become more apparent over time, as a child gets older. In general, cerebral palsy causes impaired movement associated with overstated reflexes, floppiness or rigidity of the limbs and trunk, abnormal posture, involuntary movements, unsteadiness of walking, or so me combination of these ( mayo clinic). The characteristics can dramatically affect a childs overall ability to function at a appellatively appropriate age level, and can often require intense therapies and treatment to live a mostly normal lifestyle.According to Developmental Disabilities search Reviews, other impairments are associated with cerebral palsy which are hip dislocation, displacement and spine deformities, sleep disorders, excessive drooling, vesica and bowel control complaints, and behavior difficulties (McIntyre, S. , Morgan, C. , Walker, K. , & Novak, 1. , 2011). Although cerebral palsy can cause a variety of impairments on different areas throughout the body, not everyone experiences all of these symptoms. These symptoms can be mild to severe and may not occur at all in some cases, and present themselves significantly different in each person. Prognosis Because of growing technology, the prognosis for Cerebral Palsy is good. In recent years, there was a great dea l of studies conducted helped to under digest the disease and ultimately find a means of treatment that provides a better quality of life. The quality of life is overall better and a decreased death rate because of medications and treatments, however, a life with cerebral palsy will still require various appointments, therapy, testing, dedications, and treatments.Although cerebral palsy is a Nan-progressive disease, it can feel as though it worsens as a child ages, because the necessary requirements increase in order to stay as flushed as possible. However, the overall prognosis of a child with cerebral palsy depends upon the severity of the case. While the overall prognosis for mild Cerebral Palsy is good, with severe progression of the disease, there is a chance of the prognosis to become fatal. Generally though, with treatment of the symptoms, the patient has a great chance Of survival.According to The Lancet, if all impairment domains re not severe, survival is only marginally less than that of individuals without cerebral palsy. If severe impairments are present, then life expectancy is minify approximately in proportion to the number and severity of associated impairments (Solver, A. , Farthest, C. , & Pharaoh, P. , 2014). Current Research One research was done to see if the health of children with cerebral palsy changes within a long period of time or whether it stays the same.In this study there were 156 children who had participated within this study. Within this study the parents of the children are asked to answer 50 questions which re based upon different areas of their children functioning areas. The results had shown that there are numerous reasons why health can change over time. It states that in this study we relied on parent report of health condition, and it may be that children would have reported a different view of their health status than that of their parents. Relation to monitoring the health of children with ambulant cerebral pals y, nurses need to be aware that several factors motor function, age and communication abilities are associated with changes in health status over time (McCullough, N. , Parker, J. , Kerr, C. & McDowell, B. , 2013). Although parents had answered questions about different areas of their childrens overall areas of growth there are also other areas of development that can affect the way in which can affect health as well. It would be impossible to determine a child has Cerebral Palsy just by looking at them, therefore, it is essential to conducting testing. amicable Dynamics Social dynamics is truly a significantly important part of any childs overall growth and development. Through maintaining positive honorable relationships, it helps create a healthy balance in a childs life. Colonization is something hat should be valued in a childs life and children should be encouraged often to socially interact with other children, in order to develop healthy social skills. Disorders of Childho od Development and Psychopathology believe that peer relationships serve as rich settings for constitutional learning (Parity, R. , & Troy, M. P. 22, 2014). However, quite often, children with cerebral palsy may have communication or other impairments that may often make their social dynamics more difficult than their typical peers. It is critical to healthy development, to promote social growth and development therefore, through he encouragement, the child will more likely develop better social skills through parental and educators guidance. One common means for encouraging social dynamics is to provide students with group activities or class discussions that requires social fundamental interaction amongst one another. As an educator or volunteer in the classroom, the primary finis is to ensure that students are interacting with one another and that not one child is being treated poorly or left out therefore, as a teacher you are able to foster social relationships in the classroo m and to intervene if necessary. Partnership Of Church, Family & School PIE/IFS Goal 1 Although Albert is confined to his wheel chair most of his days, Albert will work with his volunteer for 10 proceeding per day. For most of Albertan life he has been confined to a wheel chair and has been going to physical therapy week for 5 years.Recently he has make huge strides and is now able to stand up to 10 minutes and through continuing the work that is done at therapy, he will be able to make big endeavors in the future. Therefore, it would be beneficial to provide Albert the opportunity to work with his volunteer on his ability to stand with assistance. PIE/IFS Goal 2 Due to Albertan limited abilities to communicate because of his disability he tends to have frequent outburst of screaming because he is not able to communicate with others.Albert will focus on communicating more with teachers and peers at least 50% of the time within the classroom. Due to Albert having cerebral palsy this has left him with limited abilities to communicate with others around him. Albert tries to very hard some(prenominal) verbally and non-verbally to communicate with everyone although at times he becomes frustrated and upset. This causes Albert to have outburst and begin o scream due to not being able to communicate with others. This PIE goal will help Albert to work on his communication skill with his teachers and peers in order to have more positive outcomes.Everyone will work together in order to ensure that the number of outbursts that Albert is having because of frustration will be reduced. PIE/IFS Goal 3 Albert is currently delayed in his writing abilities due to his disability. Albert will continue to work with his teacher and parents to achieve a 60% increase in his writing abilities at the end of the year. This goal of encouraging Albert to improve his writing will help him to intention progressing at the rate of his peers. Currently, Albert is severely delayed and has compl ications with his writing abilities at school, and is in the second grade with first grade writing abilities. The delay is due to his fine motor skills impaired from the disease Cerebral Palsy therefore, to improve his writing abilities, it would be imperative to work on his pencil grip and coordination and encourage writing in and outside of his classrooms and therapies often. PIE/IFS Goal 4 Albert will be able understand more about his piety and eventually have a personal relationship with God. Albert wants to have a deep connection to God, but sometimes ask why God would make him born with an illness like Cerebral palsy. He has the faith and wants to understand, therefore, by providing him with the knowledge he needs in regards to God and the creation of illnesses being separate would be beneficial to his growing religious beliefs. The goal is to rail Albert on the LORDs ability to cure illness, and how if this was possible, it would be done. It is important to provide Albert wit h the knowledge that we are all created graceful unique individuals, and we are all beautiful in our own individual says. 2 Corinthians 57 For we walk by faith, not by sight (ESP.).We must have faith and hope in our savior, and recognize that we cannot see all the work he does for us. Plan for Growth of the Ministry One Year In one year in the childrens ministry, it would be beneficial to add in a wheel chair ramp in the front of the church to help those with disabilities enter the building without possibility of injury. The second goal for the church in order to grow the childrens ministry would be to ensure the playground is handicap friendly and accessible, as it is currently is not completely handicap accessible, there are areas with cover that can impair the wheelchairs ability to maneuver appropriately. The last goal for the first year in order to grow the church ministry would be to put out all the doorways throughout the building, to ensure that wheelchairs can get through the doors without struggle. In order to fulfill the needs of the church the first year, the church would be required to get volunteers to do work and to have fundraisers for the equipment that is needed in order to improve the overall church and the childrens ministry. fin Year Five year goals to achieve would be to create a summer face pack for all hillier to attend, including children with special educational, physical, or medical needs. This would encourage full inclusion, while allowing children who are often not able to attend camps with typical peers, the ability to be in a full inclusion setting. The church also would benefit from adding an evening support group for parents of children with special needs that would allow families to support one another through their difficult times. Another goal for future changes for the church would be to add a full inclusion Christian based preschool for children to attend from 0-5 years old, and would teach children n education that is centered on religion and the early childhood education standards. Conclusion The childrens min sister that is being proposed at the Brownsville Church of Christ, and is a church that is in a small town in New York. The goal is to provide a childrens ministry that is handicap capable and is able to meet the needs of special needs students. The church currently doesnt have handicap accessibility to enter the building, and could easily scare off a person or family with someone with physical disabilities. In order to promote a well-rounded program that encourages children or adults with disabilities to get involved in heir community and to do work for the LORD.
To Kill or Not to Kill
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT TO KILL OR NOT TO KILL Student Dave Cameron Professor Robert Ashley Class CAN271FA Law & The Citizen The freshman record of capital punishwork forcet in Canada is that of Peter Cartcel, a crew member who murdered Abraham Goodsides, a sailor from a nonher ship, in 1749. Peter Cartcel was ready guilty of murder and sentenced to expiry by hanging. roof penalty was early use in Canada in 1749 when it was under British rule as a British colony. The death penalty was not abolished in Canada until 1976.The concluding instance of capital penalty was an performance that took grade at Torontos Don Jail on December 11, 1962. Arthur Lucas, a man convicted of cleansing an FBI informant and Ronald Turpin, a petty thief who shot a policeman while fleeing a restaurant robbery, were the last two individuals to be hung in Canada. Over the course of the two centuries that hood punishment was in utilise in Canada, 710 individuals were kill. Canada should not re-instat e the death penalty for any offences due to the concomitant that the legal system is still not an ex answer science and some h hotshotst individuals continue to be wrongfully accused of crimes. There atomic number 18 some(prenominal) disadvantages to Capital punishment and reinstating it would be an egregious error on our tribes part and we would be taking a step backwards in terms of our civility and humanity. If Canada reinstates the death penalty, on that point is a opening that galore(postnominal) individuals will be executed for crimes they did not commit. While on that point atomic number 18 no known cases of wrongful death penaltys in Canada, between the eld of 1879 and 1960, 438 death sentences were commuted as a result of newfound evidence and so on Had those 438 death sentences not been commuted, it is possible that 438 innocent Canadian citizens would strike been point to death.Despite the fact that there is no evidence of wrongful writ of exercises in Can ada, there befuddle been many cases of individuals who have been exonerated of their crimes twelvemonths by and by they were executed in other nations. One infamous case of wrongful execution occurred in the United States. Claude Jones, a United States citizen, was executed in the year 2000 for murdering liquor storeowner Allen Hilzendager in 1989. In 2007, a DNA test revealed that the bank of hair that was used by the prosecution to convict Claude Jones was actually a strand of hair belonging to the victim, proving Claude Jones innocence.Similar to Claude Jones proven innocence years after his execution, there have been many wrongful executions in other nations end-to-end the bea. In the United Kingdom, Timothy Evans was found guilty of murdering his wife and young lady in 1950. The serial killer John Christie in fact committed the murders. The police coerced Timothy Evans into a false confession. The police also did not do a proper search of John Christies attri notwithst andinge and failed to find other human remains. Timothy Evans was granted a lofty pardon in 1966, however an innocent life had been needlessly devourn.Capital punishment was abolished in the United Kingdom partly because of Timothy Evans wrongful execution. If Capital punishment did not outlast in these nations, the lives of many innocent men and women would have been spared. Therefore, Capital punishment should not be reinstated in Canada because it is not worth the initiative that innocent Canadians will be put to death for crimes they did not commit. If an individual is wrongfully accused for a crime, incarcerated for life and are exonerated, they crowd out be released and resume their former life. However, a wrongful execution green goddessnot be undone or taken back, it is permanent. It has been proven throughout the aim of modern of law, particularly throughout the history of English common law, which is the home of the Canadian legal system in every province in Canada except for Quebec, a province where they practice Civil law, that 50% of eyewitness testimony is false. witness testimony is the most influential deciding actor for a Jury during trial and 95-100% of crimes that carry Capital punishment are trails with a Jury. Therefore, there is a very high risk that innocent individuals will be put in jail and sentenced to Capital punishment based on a Jury swayed by false eyewitness testimony.Capital punishment has been used by nearly all nations throughout the domain at one point in history. The use of Capital punishment as part of the justice system began with recorded history and it has make many changes and advances over the millennia that it has been in use. To its credit, there have been many movements towards much humane forms of execution, especially throughout the last century. Prisoners are no all-night being boiled to death, crucified or impaled, however execution as a form of punishment is still seen as a gruesome act by many co untries, including Canada. The more humane forms of execution that have been invented and implemented in modern jails include the electric chair, the gas chamber and fatal injection. These forms of humane execution are used in the United States where Capital punishment is legal. Many societies with Capital punishment ascribe to the Biblical old Testament form of law, the idea of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, where a person who has harmed another should be similarly harmed in retribution. However, if you take an eye for an eye every time someone is wronged, the whole world will go blind. other disadvantage to Capital punishment is that one of the purposes of jails in modern club is to rehabilitate inmates. Jails do not just now exist to protect society from criminals that can harm the innocent, they also have the intention of rehabilitating inmates so that they can rejoin society as healthy, functioning members who can contribute in a meaningful way. There are many di fferent types of rehabilitation programs established in Canadian prisons. One grave rehabilitation program gives inmates access to instructional services that they did not gather up prior to their incarceration for various socio-economic reasons. These educational services allow inmates, who are often lacking basic education, to become literate, sustain their General l clear uping Development diploma, participate in vocational education programs, earn College diplomas and earn University degrees. One of the leading causes of crime is poverty, which is often caused by a bicycle of illiteracy and a lack of education. Inmates should be given a come across to be educated while serving their sentence so that they can be rehabilitated into society, rather than being executed. When Capital punishment is in place in a nation, no societal progress can be made.Thousands of lives are taken and no change is made, the cycle of crime continues. Another leading cause of crime is drug and al cohol abuse. Many individuals indemnify to crime to support their expensive drug and alcohol habits and the majority have not received drug treatment prior to their incarceration. Another classic rehabilitation program in Canadian prisons is the drug treatment program. Studies have shown that inmates who are required to participate in drug rehabilitation programs feature with therapy show positive results. The purpose of jails is to not only punish criminals, but to rehabilitate them into society.Inmates need to be given a chance to receive the rehabilitation they need, much(prenominal) as drug and alcohol treatment and an education before their lives are taken away. The solution to crime in our society is not Capital punishment. It is finding the source and the root of the crime, much(prenominal) as poverty, lack of education and drug and alcohol abuse and solving these problems and rehabilitating these individuals. at a time inmates are successfully rehabilitated the level o f crime will greatly descend and no lives need to be taken in the form of Capital punishment. There are numerous disadvantages to reinstating Capital punishment in Canada, however one of the advantages to Capital punishment is it costs less money to execute a prisoner than to house them for life. In Canada, rather than receiving the death penalty for crimes such as murder, individuals receive 25 years in prison without the surmise of parole for the duration of those 25 years. It is possible that these individuals will remain in prison for the rest of their lives. If the crime is particularly heinous, the prisoner is designated a heartbreaking offender. This makes the possibility of parole much more difficult to obtain. Prisoners can also be designated long-term offenders. This is less serious than being designated a heavy offender, however it is still difficult to receive parole. The designation of dangerous offender and long-term offender are made after individuals are convicted. The prisoners only given these designations once they have received a fair trail. Prisoners such as long-term offenders and dangerous offenders who remain in jail for 25 or more years cost Canadian tax payers and the establishment an enormous amount of money. One advantage to Capital punishment is its monetary benefit to the nations that implement it. The annual cost of housing an inmate in Canada can range between $52,000 to $250,000 a year depending on level of security of the facility in which the inmate is being held. Multiply that foretell by the 25 years an inmate serves when sentenced to life in prison instead of receiving Capital punishment and the housing of an inmate for life in Canada ranges from $1,300,000 to $6,250,000. It is Canadian taxpayers who pay for the housing of inmates through the Government. However, the financial benefit of violent death individuals instead of housing them for life is not worth potentially cleanup spot the innocent. There are many advant ages and disadvantages to Capital punishment, however it should not be reinstated in Canada. The disadvantages far outweigh the advantages and it is simply not worth the possibility of potentially killing innocent individuals just to save the taxpayers and the Government money. whole kit and boodle Cited List Jobb, Dean.
